Regeneration, Justification, Sanctification, Glorification

Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit to awaken our hearts to the truth of the Gospel. At regeneration we are freed from our PRISON of sin. ( 2 Corinthians 4:6 )

Justification is the process of beginning a personal relationship with Christ through faith. Through justification, an individual is saved from the PENALTY of sin. ( Romans 6:23 )

Sanctification is the process of being made holy like Him. In sanctification, the believer is saved from the POWER of sin ( I Cor 10:13 )

Glorification is the process of becoming completely like Him when the believer is saved from the PRESENCE of sin ( 2 Cor 3:18 ) Glorification comes to the believer only when you are with the Father in heaven for all eternity.

Both the work outside of us (justification) and the work inside us (sanctification) are really one work. They can be distinguished but not separated:

In theological terms, justification (a once-for-all act affording the Christian right standing before God) cannot be separated from sanctification (the life-long process of moral transformation into more of Christ's image.)

I believe that sanctification begins the moment of justification (a person is saved) and that in the eyes of God we are holy by the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. Yet it is our behavior that needs changed that we may become more like Him and this is sanctification done only through the work of the Holy Spirit.
