CHRISTIAN HOME FELLOWSHIP, fellowship
of believers who have returned to the Biblical way of Church,
becoming the N.T. "church" body like God intended.
HOME CHURCH - To find God, or to find
their way back to God, people are realizing that this may require
leaving church (religion). Not an easy decision to make. But the
Bible never instructs us to GO to church; Christ calls us to BE the
church. So, we must realize that no matter where we go, the Kingdom
of God is within us. If you find yourself in a place where you can't
seem to find a church home, why not pray about starting a Home
Church/Fellowship?
I know, the first thing you are
thinking is, "I can't start a church?" Sure you can. Do you
know how to fellowship? "But I don't know anything about it?"
Sure you do. "But I don't feel qualified." Well, there are
only a few qualifications one must meet. You only need:
-A House to meet in.
-A Desire to share God's Word
-A Love for God & People
Do you know that if you have ever given
a Bible study in a home, you were having church? Did you know that if
you've ever just sat in a place, eating and talking about God, you
were having church? The church is a body of believers, not some
building that Christians meet in. WE ARE THE CHURCH. Anytime you are
gathered together, anywhere, and sharing about JESUS, you are having
church.
There are many advantages of a Home
Church. Here are just a few listed:
-The leader is the Holy Ghost
-Our central authority is the Word of God
-Our "covering" is Jesus
Christ
-Everybody is of equal importance
-Everybody has a voice
-Family Atmosphere
-Casual-Informal
-Small intimate groups
-Warm interaction
-No titles and positions (no one
exalted over another)
-Freedom to be used in the gift given
by God
-Five Fold Leadership with Body
Ministry
-Equipping of the Saints
-Accountability to one another
-No large building mortgage
-100% of offerings go to ministries of
choice
I Corinthians 14:26 even mentions that "...when we assemble together, one hath a psalm, one has a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation, letting all things be done unto edification".
Many ask, "But who is your
covering?" Good question.
Most traditional church groups are
"covered" by a denominational hierarchy. While such
structures can be useful, and do provide a degree of economic
accountability, we believe spiritual accountability exists only in
the kind of shared trust and mutual submission which is found in the
context of personal relationships (see James 5:16 and Eph 5:12). Our
"covering", therefore, is provided by Jesus Christ and
those He's places in our circle who've earned our trust and respect,
who "cover" us in prayer, and with whom we share permission
to speak authoritatively into each other's lives.
I mean THINK ABOUT THIS. While
attending our former church, the people that OUR LEADERS were
accountable to, we never hardly EVER saw, let alone have a
relationship with them. We didn't even know them on a personal level
at all. And not only that, but our own leaders, in the church we
attended were not to be real close or friendly to the saints. They
had to maintain that "higher" status to obtain the respect
they felt is due to them. And the "pastors" we had then,
had NEVER EVER been to our home but once, only to reprimand us for
something that was falsely accused, and even then the meeting was not
done as the Bible directed, because our accusers were not even
present and they refused to even reveal them. This was so not
biblical. This THEN, all leading us to leave the church. This was the
ONLY time they had ever been to our home, all the years we attended
there. Sad huh?
I'm sorry, but I feel so much more safe
with being accountable to people that frequently come into my home,
and we into theirs, who share their hearts, remain open, honest and
transparent, and live their lives as such, before us. And we in turn
feel comfortable to do the same. THESE are the people I'm accountable
to. Not those that hardly know me nor I them.
